was reelected chairman of Uis Fish and Wildlife Management Board for Region 8 of the Conservation Department at a meeting at the conservation offices in Dutchess Turn pike yesterday. Region 8 includes Dutchess, Putnam. Westchester, Ulster, Orange, Sullivan 'and Rockland Counties. Other 'officers relected were Warren H. McKeon, Millbrook, secretary; Roger Cole, White Plains, state board representative and Harold Decker, Greenville, landowner representative.

Elected to posts were Cecil Stewart, Lew Beach (Sullivan County), vice chairman; Jacques Nitsche, alternate to state board; and Art Kurtz, New Paltz alternate landowner representative. The board passed a resolution opposing restrictive firearms leg islation, recommended the state acquire the Basherkill area of about 7,000 acres, in Sullivan County and heard a report from William Hollister, conservation biologist, on the F. W. May co operative landowner program. Hollister said coorjerativa hunt Ing areas in the region were used by a record number of hunters last year about 23,000.

Chairman Hayes named a com mittee to study posting lands throughout the region. The board made known it will have a booth at the Dutchess County Sportsman's Show at Arlington High School March 4 and 5 and a conservation day for Region 8 senior high school students in the spring. Top flight Field Set For YMCA Cage Tourney! The YMCA's 24th annual Hudson Valley basketball tournament will be one of the best in its long history, Donald J. Entries should be sent to'Mrs. Irma Slezak, tourney chairman, tat Caldwell Road, Town of Poughkeepsie. defending champions, will have another star studded team. NSO runner up last year, is even stronger this year and may go all the way.

The Stewart Air Force Falcons, third place finishers last ycar, were the runner up in the recent First Air Force Tournament. They lost to Selfidge Air Force Base by a point. The Rockland All stars' fourth place winners last year, have one of their strongest teams in years. Playing as Davies Cbrnbuskers, they won the tournament several years ago. The Felicello Pipers, Marlboro, have a well rounded team with speed and height.

Sonny's Spotlight, a new entry, features several top stars may be the surprise ot the tournament. Two top teams in Kingston have entered: the Hub Delica tessen, formerly Ray's Tackle Shop, and Whitman Electric. Red White's Auto Body has en tered an team of up state college stars, collegiate players from the Metropolitan area and some Harlem Valley standouts.1 Wiley's Texaco has a strong squad featuring IBM Industrial League stars and collegiate standouts. Perkin Elmer. from Danbury, features a well rounded attack and hopes to add additional stars to its roster.

Mastromarino Lumber, from Haverstraw. will have a strong team with former MVP's in the tourney piaying. several coiiegi ate stars will help this, talented team be a threat for top honors. Rosters will be made known later. The tourney will open Monday, March 20.

Skeef, Trap Club Forming A meeting to organize a skeet and trap shooting club will be staged Monday. March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Winchester Public show grounds. North Ohioville Road, New Paltz. Team representatives or inter ested skeet and trap shooters have been invited to attend.

Ulster Closes Regular Season With 16 8 Mark Ulster Community College's basketball team has closed its fourth season with a record of 16 wins and 8, losses its finest record to date.

The Senators, currently ranked 10th in Region 15, are hoping for abld to the regional tournament in Baltimore, according to Coach Mike Perry. UCCC finished the season strongly, with 7 wins out of its last 9 games. The Senators finished third in the Mid Hudson Conference with a 6 4 record. A highlight of the season was the number of new records established by the basketball team. One of the records was scoring 100 points or more on nine different occasions.

The top production was 155 points against Rock land Community College last Tuesday. Brad Meyer, the team's captain, broke the college scoring record held by Paul Buytkins when he scored 39 points against Rockland in January. In last Tuesday's game against Rockland, Brad grabbed 32 rebounds to set a reboundirur record. The previous record was set Just the week before by Bill Boines, who grabbed 29 rebounds In a game with Sullivan Community College. In the victory over Rockland, the Senators set seven records.

They included most points in one game (155), most field goals in one game (60), most foul points In one game (35), most total points by two teams (270), most rebounds by the whole team (110), most points in a half (80) and most personal fouls (29). Coach Perry said the only play er he will lose from this year's team is Meyer, a 6 4 German town star, who was the team scoring and rebounding leader. All the remaining players are freshmen and expected back next year. Entries Down For DPCBA's Tournament The 25th annual championship tournament of the Dutchess Putnam Counties Bowling Association will get underway next Saturday at the Hoe Bowl Country Lanes but with fewer entries than last year, according to Clete Hart, secretary. The tourney will continue weekends through Sunday, March 19.

This year's entries are 218 teams. 237 doubles, 414 singles and 376 all events. Last year, there were 226 teams, 238 doubles, 445 singles and 410 all events. The record entries are 310 teams in 1962, 328 doubles in 1961, 596 singles in 1961 and 550 all 'events in 1961. HiillllHdli.

The league then Voted to accept Royal' All stars, Jim's Barber Shop, Queen Car Wash, McAuley's, Frivolous. Sal, Nite Cap Restaurant 'and Empire Lounge to make the third divi sion. A rule was passed which allows each team to use three players from any organized league other than the Downtown League, Pleasant Valley League and Industrial League. It was also decided to retain all players who 'were league members last year. New rules will bo enacted at the hext meeting on March 7 at re Polish curb at 7:30 p.m.

Tasciottl added that teams must have their franchise fee' submitted by March 21 or will be dropped.
