There, event participants enjoyed live bands and raffles and vied in a silent auction for a Ferrari. There also was a two-time championship dragster by Andrew Pearte on site. "I think we accomplished our goal with this great event that is, raising money for research for kids with histiocytosis," said Dr. Virginio Vena, event organizer made food donations.

HAA is a nonprofit organization providing support and education to patients and families dealing with histiocytic disorders. The organization also funds research grants to find better treatment options and a cure for the rare blood disease. More than 100 exotic cars were assembled at the Jupiter Country Club recently by Toll Brothers as part of an Exotic Car Run to benefit the Histiocytosis Association of America (HAA) The event brought in more than $16,000. Owners of the automobiles enjoyed food and a children's karate performance by the Purple Dragon Academy of Don Jitsu Ryu.

Later, they made their way to the Maserati of Palm Beach dealership Delta Sigma Theta Sorority awards $15,000 in scholarships DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY The West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has awarded more than $15,000 in college scholarships to 18 Palm Beach County high-school graduates. The scholarship recipients were chosen after a formal application-and-interview process led by the sorority's scholarship committee, which was chaired by Cheryl Lawton-Smith. Jasmine Morton, an Inlet Grove High School graduate who will attend Georgetown University this fall, was awarded the sorority's four-year renewable scholarship, worth $1,500 a year. The other 17 scholarship recipients will receive one-time scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000. They are: John Reese, Inlet Grove; Bevans Robbs II, Palm Beach Central; Patrice Guthrie and Melissa Mosley Palm Beach Gardens; Antonide Arthus, Temy Clemmons, Jekella Dansby Tiahna Freeman, Mercaydes Jackson, Jasmine Lewis and Lauren Pace, Palm Beach Lakes; Anise Neita, Royal Palm Beach; Alexis Davis, Seminole Ridge; and Sophia Falana, Cortlind Hendley Ronnica Jenkins and Jabari Taylor, Suncoast.

The scholarship awards are the result of proceeds from the 50th annual Ebony Fashion Fair, which Delta Sigma Theta hosted in January. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a public-service sorority of college-educated women, has hosted the Ebony Fashion Fair in West Palm Beach since 1974. The 51st annual Ebony Fashion Fair opens in September and will make its way to West Palm Beach on Jan. 24, 2009.
