For those considering a career change, Kaplan advises they think about what they most like and dislike about their current job and haw the skills they like might be applied to other jobs. "Think about people you know and their jobs," he says.

"Do they talk enthusiastically about their work? Can you relate aspects of their personalities to their jobs?
